The new year is only a holiday season away, and before we pause for some deserved festive days, let’s take some time to look back at the milestones that made 2025 a transformative year for Interventional Systems.Â
We celebrated 15 years of pioneering medical robotics
This year marked 15 years of Interventional Systems. From our first-generation iSYS1 platform to today’s Micromateâ„¢, we’ve remained committed to making the precision and benefits of surgical robotics accessible to every patient. Our technology today supports a broad range of interventional radiology and oncology applications, as well as cranial surgery and spinal surgery, with more applications in development
We expanded our strategic partnerships to drive innovation
In 2024, we committed to expanding access to robotics in percutaneous and minimally invasive surgery through strategic partnerships. In 2025, we pushed that vision further to bring advanced robotic solutions to more clinicians and patients worldwide.
Shoulder Innovations: We partnered with Shoulder Innovations to introduce a transformative shoulder-specific micro-robotic solution for total shoulder arthroplasty (TSA) and reverse shoulder arthroplasty (RSA). This partnership expands their disruptive ecosystem with advanced enabling technology designed for the ASC setting, enhancing surgical precision, workflow efficiency, and enabling new clinical approaches.
Siemens Healthineers: We announced a co-marketing agreement with Siemens Healthineers to promote robot-assisted percutaneous procedures in their angiography suites. This collaboration combines Micromateâ„¢’s submillimeter accuracy with the exceptional imaging capabilities of Siemens Healthineers ARTIS systems, empowering clinicians to deliver better care with greater confidence and control.
HICREN: Sino-European MicroRobotics (SEMR), our joint venture with HICREN, secured Class III Medical Device Registration approval from China’s NMPA for the Intelligent SpinePecker—the first miniature spinal surgical robot in China. This approval marks a new era for robotic-assisted spinal surgery in China and validates our technology’s global impact. The robotic system was launched in September.
SHERPA Project: We joined the SHERPA consortium, an innovative European initiative focused on automating the future of interventional radiology with smart assistive technologies. SHERPA aims to support interventional radiologists by providing AI-powered tools across workflows in neurology and oncology, particularly for neurovascular interventions and liver tumor ablations.Â
We celebrated new Micromateâ„¢ installations and clinical cases
Throughout 2025, Micromateâ„¢ continued to grow its clinical presence, with new installations and physicians using the system to deliver precision care across different procedures.

We shared a patient’s story that reminds us why we do this work
One of the most meaningful highlights of 2025 was sharing the story of Carlos Tavares, a 76-year-old patient who became one of the first to benefit from Micromateâ„¢’s robotic precision in Portugal. After two unsuccessful biopsy attempts, Carlos finally received his diagnosis thanks to the precision and accessibility that Micromateâ„¢ provided to his clinical team at ULS Gaia and Espinho.
His advice to other patients considering robotic procedures? “Don’t think twice—go for it. It’s a tool that helps medicine. Don’t be afraid. It won’t hurt you; it doesn’t bite.“
Stories like Carlos’s remind us why we do what we do and inspire us to continue making advanced surgical robotics accessible to all.
We look forward to what 2026 will bring
As we close out 2025, we’re energized by the momentum we’ve built and the partnerships we’ve formed. Our 15th anniversary reminds us of how far we’ve come, while the innovations and collaborations we’ve launched this year point to an even brighter future ahead.
We look forward to further developing our technology into new clinical specialties, launching new software features, strengthening our global presence, and continuing to make minimally invasive, robotic-assisted procedures accessible to more patients worldwide.Â
Thank you to our incredible team, partners, and clinical users who made 2025 a success. Let’s continue to break new ground in 2026!
