Interventional Systems sponsors first European Conference on Image-Guided Pain Management

We were proud to sponsor the inaugural European Conference on Image-Guided Pain Management (ECIP Summit 2026) in Vienna, a milestone event bringing together a select group of leading interventional radiologists dedicated to advancing image-guided pain therapies.

A new forum for a growing specialty

Held on March 19–20, the ECIP Summit was the first European congress of its kind, with a strong emphasis on peer-to-peer clinical discussion. The central theme — how radiologic interventions can improve pain control and reduce the need for more invasive procedures — is one that resonates deeply with the work we’re doing with Micromate™.

Our Clinical Product Specialist Cristina Quagliozzi and Product Lifecycle Manager André Ferraz represented the team, listening, learning, and exploring where our technology can make a meaningful contribution.

Insights from the field

We were especially grateful to Dr. Marco Van Strijen for his presentation on cone-beam CT and navigation in precision-guided pain procedures. His insights into the role of robotics in interventional radiology — and his discussion of the SHERPA project — sparked valuable conversations about the future of the field and where Micromate™ fits within it.

The conference reinforced a message we continue to hear from clinicians: there is real momentum behind integrating interventional radiology into pain management pathways, and the right tools can make a meaningful difference for patients.

Thank you

Thank you to the ECIP organizers for bringing together such a focused and high-caliber community, and to Dr. Marco Van Strijen for his continued expertise and support. A special thank you to Prof. Dimitrios Filippiadis, whose kind invitation made our participation possible.

Treating trigeminal neuralgia with robotic-assisted thermocoagulation

We sat down with Prof. Reto Bale, Deputy Director of the Department of Radiology and the Head of the Section of Interventional Oncology / Stereotaxy and Robotics at the Medical University of Innsbruck (Tirol Kliniken), to walk through the condition, the available treatments, and the role robotic precision plays in improving outcomes. At Innsbruck, that technology is Micromate.
