During their second quarter 2026 earnings call, our partner Shoulder Innovations (NYSE: SI) shared an update on the robotic platform we’re developing together, revealing the technology will officially be known as InSet NEO and that FDA submission is planned for the first half of 2027. The company also outlined the training program that will accompany the product’s rollout.
Shoulder Innovations on InSet NEO’s progress
Since we last reported on this partnership following SI’s 2025 earnings call, SI’s leadership shared that the company has made tangible progress each quarter, with product development running almost a full year ahead of initial internal forecasts. That pace is reflected in the regulatory timeline: SI confirmed it is planning FDA submission for InSet NEO in the first half of 2027, with additional details on product features and filing timelines to be shared over the coming quarters.
A comprehensive, integrated enabling technology suite
InSet NEO is being developed alongside a broader revamp of SI’s ProVoyance platform, which leadership described as the main engagement center for its customers. The next generation of ProVoyance is being built to better align with each surgeon’s needs and is designed to be fully compatible with InSet NEO, forming a single integrated suite spanning software and robotics. Leadership said the goal is to support more accurate surgery while requiring the simplest possible adjustment to existing technique, with the aim of delivering better outcomes at a lower economic burden, particularly for ambulatory surgery centers.
Robotic training program
Alongside the filing, SI anticipates launching a robotic training program in early Q1 of next year using current SI surgeons. Leadership said the train-the-trainer approach, consistent with the company’s peer-to-peer medical education philosophy, is meant to scale knowledge sharing and surgeon engagement.
