iFIX sets a new hygienic standard

Micromate, miniature medical robot in action

The increased awareness about hygiene, cross-contamination, and the spread of infectious pathogenic agents has been reminding healthcare professionals to pay special attention to direct and indirect exposure of equipment surfaces and pathogenic agents or biological fluids. The fabrics used for re-usable immobilization devices are often hard to clean. Besides the fact that these fabrics often look dirty and non-hygienic to the patient, the most critical part is the non-visible contamination due to inadequate cleaning that can lead to cross-contamination.

This is especially true for patient restraint methods of imaging or interventional beds, whose table straps are notorious for acquiring stains, biological debris, and fluids over time. As the table straps are needed to mitigate the risk of patient movement, they are kept and reused in all cases.

The iFIX Fleece products

iFIX is the only product that minimizes the likelihood that patients are cross-infected while keeping them still during imaging and therapy.

iFIX benefits:

  • Outstandingly hygienic: Disposable, single-use products that can be used for diagnostic imaging but also in surgical rooms
  • Fewer rescans: Reduces blurry images caused by motion artifacts, allowing you to perform up to 340 more scans a year.
  • Comfortable and robust: Like a second skin for the patient while restraining motion to less than 1mm.
  • Versatile: Fits every table on the market (if it doesn’t fit yours, we’ll customize it for you)
  • Wide-ranging: Compatible with all imaging modalities, including ultrasound.

Beekley Medical about iFIX

Beekley Medical – our iFIX Distributor within the US- has interviewed two of their customers about the benefits of iFIX. Jessica Cloward, an MRI Supervisor in Salt Lake City, who implemented iFIX in August 2019 told us, “iFIX is better because now we know that it’s clean. It’s also helping our patients hold their arms in far better than the old gray strap. iFIX Fleece conforms to the patient anatomy and helps them stay in place and we’re seeing less motion. And when we’re done with the patient, we remove the fleece, and move on.”

“We don’t even use our old strap. It’s locked away in my cabinet and no one’s ever using it again. They’re only using the iFIX. It’s disposable and cleaner. It keeps the patient still and I’m less concerned about potential rescans now.”
